Glass Panel Process: Most of the image on designs such as this one are created by layering different colored glass powder on a double layer of cut glass.  The layered glass is melted in a kiln. Vitreous enamel (fine powdered glass mixed with a binder) is also fired on to create detail.  The entire process usually requires multiple firings at different temperatures.  On transparent pieces, color intensity changes as light filters through it. The background also interacts with the piece; a lighter backdrop usually intensifies color.
